Sep 27, 2023 - Journey to Derry/Londonderry and County Donegal

Traversing Northern Ireland, we arrived at the old walled city of Derry/Londonderry by the Foyle River. We stopped at Londonderry City Center next to the City Hall. We walked over the Peace Bridge to see the other side of the bridge which is an elegant snaking curves of the cycle and foot bridge, it tells a story of triumph over adversity and is a symbol of peace for connecting the two sides of the River Foyle. It is intended to improve relations between the largely unionist Waterside on the east bank with the largely nationalist Cityside on the west bank, by improving access between these areas, as part of wider regeneration plans.

After we visited the City Hall and saw some exhibitions, then we went to walk along the city wall for some photos.

Later, a local guide led us under the rain to see the old town along with walking on top of the city wall.

We had some more free time after the guided tour, so we went back to the city hall to see the Main Hall Pipe Organ on the second floor.  It is the most impressive pipe organ we have ever seen.  It is illuminated with different colors of lightings.

There was an optional tour for visiting Ulster American Folk Park for exhibitions about The Story of Emigration. We did not attend it, therefore, they droped us off at a small town Omagh.  We did some shopping and enjoyed coffee for a relaxing afternoon.

We stayed at Kees Hotel Leisure and Wellness Centre in Ballybofey.  After we checked in the hotel, we walked to see Drumboe Woods which is a park with many impressive photos we saw online.  However, when we got there, we did not see any of the beautiful scenery, we just did a loop trail as our daily walk.
