Oct 6, 2023 - Discover Diverse Dublin

We had a local guide took for a drive-by tour of Dublin.  After that we decided to join the optional tour to visit Glendalough. Glendalough is a glacial valley in County Wicklow, Ireland, renowned for an Early Medieval monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin. Glendalough has attracted pilgrims and visitors over many centuries for its hallowed surroundings, its traditions and its stunning scenery. However, we spent most of the time at the medieval monastic site.  From inside of a bus, it was hard to enjoy the surround stunning scenery.

In the afternoon, we went to Trinity College to attend our pre-booked "The Book of Kells" tour.  We got there on time and enjoyed very much with the exhibition for "The Book of Kells".  After that we went in to see the actual book itself.  However, it was in a locked case with only one page (looks like an index page) showing.  We felt it was kind of disappointed about see the really book with only one index page.

Then we went to the Long Room of the Trinity College Library.  It was very impressive. However, most of the bookshelves were empty due to they were working on restoring these books.

After the tour, we walked to National Gallery of Ireland.  It was impressive to see many Post Impressionism paints.

After all the excitement of a day, we did not feel like to go out for dinner and we just had simple and relaxing dinner at the hotel.
